Maintaining a log home It's easier than you think. Log Home maintenance has often been a misunderstood issue. Because log homes are generally less costly and somewhat easier to maintain than standard, "stick-built" homes, many people believe that log homes are "maintenance free." Simply put, any wood that is exposed to the elements requires protection - no mater what species or how it has been treated. At Country Log Homes, "we're got your covered." Our commitment to proper maintenance begins before your log package is shipped. Our borate-based preservative process is extremely effective. We take the critical step of hearing heating our dip treatment solution, making certain that the proper amount of borate salts are loaded on the surface of each and every log component that we produce. We also provide the material for your initial preservation application with each log package that we sell. This preservative should be applied between three and twelve months after your shell construction has been completed. You will also need to apply a preservative every three to five years thereafter. The design of your log home, the protection afforded by your building site and the orientation of your home on your site all contribute to determine your overall maintenance schedule. Some areas of your home will "weather" faster than others so you will have to pay close attention. Country Log Homes is so confident in our log treatment system that we offer a Lifetime Limited Warranty against both wood-digesting insects and decay. We offer protection for your log material for as long as you own your log home - if you apply a preservative according to our application schedule. We stand behind our product for a lifetime - as long as you partner with us to safeguard the beauty and durability of your Country Log Home. Adirondack Country Log Home will apply the first preservative application and maintain preservative application as necessary through the 5th year after purchasing from us! |
